Carefully designed to lay down the foundations upon which students can build their advanced techniques, the Basic Course covers the core skills of the Martial Arts including technique, strength, agility, flexibility and discipline.
Whether you’re new to the Martial Arts, from a non-GBMAA club and wanting to start fresh on our syllabus, or if you trained some years ago and would like a gentle refresher course, this is the program for you.
The program consists of basic, non-contact Martial Arts/Kickboxing, basic Self-Defence, a Physical Conditioning Program, a Life Skills Curriculum and a Grading system.
The techniques covered will take you up to your Red Belt Black- stripe and will provide you with all you need to know in order to progress to the next stage.
The GBMAA’s Leadership course is designed to take students up to Black Belt in any combination of up to four different Martial Arts Disciplines (with additional gradings for individual weapons). The programme also teaches a number of different Life Skills (see below) to help ensure that all of our students (especially the younger ones) have the best possible chance for success and happiness in their lives outside the Academy. Our Leadership course also includes a higher intensity, sport specific fitness program that will give you everything you need in order to start making a name for yourself on the Sport Martial Arts circuit. With advanced Kickboxing, sparring and competitions, pad-work, Kung Fu, Weapons, Forms and Martial Gymnastics, there’s something here for everyone.
Originally written by an American Martial Arts instructor and child psychologist, Kimber Hill, it has since grown to become
one of the most popular children’s programmes in the world, thanks to its ideal blend of basic Martial Arts, Life Skills and Safety Skills.
Classes are typically 45 minutes long and are taught by a minimum of two GBMAA Instructors, at a ratio of one instructor per eight students.
Aimed specifically at children of this age group, the programme is structured to provide all students with a fun and safe learning environment, without being too physically or intellectually demanding. Students are graded every eight weeks and awarded different coloured belts for each grading.
Also included within the programme, exclusive to the GBMAA, is a BullyBuster program that teaches children how to cope with being bullied, how to deal with bullies in a peaceful and mature manner and how to help others that are being bullied too
Specifically designed by Master Page himself to ease the transition from Lil' Dragons to the Kids programme, Kidz Zone provides children with a slightly more challenging learning experience. Students will learn more complex Martial Arts techniques and combinations and will be able to progress to the Leadership programme, where their training becomes even more challenging and diverse.
The main aim of Kidz Zone is to teach children essential life skill, which can be applied to both their Martial Arts training and their life in general. These skills include Perseverance, Concentration, Agility, Technique, Intensity and Flexibility.
Classes are an hour long and taught by one instructor for every eight students
